Who doesn’t love a hand written thank you note? There are reasons for that.
If you really want to show you care, or that you truly value a relationship, or you want to make a strong impression, you write a handwritten note. When thank you notes are typed and delivered across the screen, well, they come off flat.
Sending someone a hand written thank you note is a physical token of appreciation and something that the recipient will hold onto and remember - far longer than an email.
Sending a handwritten thank you is also completely personal. You add personal details and the recipient sees those words conveyed in your own handwriting allowing them to catch a glimpse of the personal side of you. It’s a great way to demonstrate that the person you're thinking about is meaningful and valuable to you.
So now you are saying “But Mr. GoGetter, I’m too busy.” The whole world is busy and we all have a lot to accomplish which is all the more reason to send a handwritten note. If time is really scarce, and you use a few minutes to write a write a thank you, the recipient knows that you made the choice to take that time and effort to write to them. They will get far more gratification from this gesture than the standard thank you text or email.
We all know how great it feels to be appreciated. We all want to know that our contributions and efforts are important. When you write a handwritten thank you note, it’s a physical demonstration to the person you're thanking that they are appreciated, valuable, and worthy. It’s also a sure fire way to put a smile on someone’s face.
Now that I’ve shared why you need to write thank you notes, let’s get you set up. (FYI - I do not make any money off these recommendations.)
Order a great set of thank you cards. One of my favorite sets of cards is the The Olivetti Pattern Series: Notecards & Envelopes. They are designed using the The Olivetti typewriter which is iconic, and it happens to be the favorite writing tool of authors like Francis Ford Coppola.
Next step. Add even more flair and personalization with a unique stamp.
If you are still hesitant to write out those thank you cards, I’ll give you the next best thing. You can use a services like Felt to actually create handwritten notes online. Just pick a design and then use your finger or stylus to write out the note on your screen. It’s that simple. You can even customize the envelopes.
Or if you need scale, you can use Handywritten. You basically type, they write it out in the handwriting of your choice, and mail out large quantities at once.
If you are still not sure, I’ll prove it to you first hand. Write me a thank you for this post. And I promise to write you one back and you’ll see how good it feels.
